The Immersion Alive program is the most unique and
powerful Spanish immersion learning experience on the planet! Experience
life and learning in Latin America as it should be.
Designed with meticulous care and attention to reality by Ricardo González,
Founder and Executive Director of Bilingual America, you are sure to
be absolutely thrilled with the results of this life-changing experience.
This program is designed only for people with a minimum of High Intermediate
Spanish skills. Immersion Alive is designed to make an incredible impact
in both your Spanish language fluidity and your cultural comfort of
living and experiencing life in Latin America.
Why spend four to six hours a day sitting in an immersion school in
a classroom with a teacher when you can experience leveraging and refining
your Spanish in real life situations seven to eight hours a day with
a certified and trained Spanish instructor?
Spanish Power students enjoy a complete integration of
learning processes in exact concert with their Level of ability and
understanding in the Spanish Power course.
This program is presently offered only in the beautiful and culturally
rich country of Costa Rica.
How Immersion Alive Works
You will have a minimum of seven hours daily of one-on-one instruction,
attention, and guidance from your Bilingual America Certified Instructor
in Costa Rica. We offer six day and twelve day Immersion Alive
Spanish learning experiences.
Your instructor will pick you up at the airport in San José, Costa Rica
and take you to your host family residence. After settling in (a special
reception for you with snacks, drinks and a small Costa Rican gift!)
you will have a two hour evening orientation with your Instructor regarding
the events and learning experiences of the week.
Each day you will experience a minimum of seven hours hours of carefully
planned, individual learning experiences during which your instructor
will fine tune your Spanish.
From a language standpoint, you will work on vocabulary, structure,
speech flow and comprehension all within real life environments. From
a life standpoint, you will do most everything a native speaker must
do in real life.
Real Life Learning Activities!
This program goes well beyond the passé immersion school program
of sitting in a classroom learning with a teacher. In the Immersion
Alive! Program you will apply and use your Spanish in a completely
dynamic manner.
You will negotiate the purchase of a home and an automobile. You will
visit and interact in both office and manufacturing environments. You
will even get familiar with the appropriate agencies and steps to get
water, electricity and telephone hooked up in a home. Of course, we'll
also show you the process of getting a Costa Rican driver's license.
With enough advance notice we will work hard to have an interchange
arranged for you within your specific area of vocational expertise.
Learn how to incorporate a business in Latin America, understand the
medical system from the inside, engage in discussions about Latin American
legal practices and engage in the banking process.
You will have one full ecological day in which you stand atop one of
the highest volcanic mountain ranges in the country while you learn
about how the eco system works in Costa Rica. Visit a beautiful Basilica
where the Virgin Mary is reported to have visited in Costa Rica on the
same day.
On another day you will manage a two hour trip from San José
to another town via bus. You will make all the transfers, purchase tickets
and generally lead the excursion.
You will dine only in typical Costa Rican restaurants. Throughout the
day, as you go from real-life activity to the next, your favorite refreshments
and snacks will be available to you in the vehicle.
Throughout the day, as you are living real life - ALL in Spanish - you
and your instructor will fine tune your Spanish language skills.
You will also have the opportunity each day to sit down for one hour
with your instructor in a quiet atmosphere to discuss any finer points
of learning and to clarify any questions you may have.
You will be required each morning, before leaving with your instructor,
to read a minimum of three news articles from La Nacion, Costa Rica's
main newspaper.
Throughout the day, you and your instructor will discuss these three
current event articles. This will help you to learn to discuss life
in the abstract, a skill which many learners do not often develop. One
article will be regarding politics, another business and another in
a general news category.
Upon arrival in Costa Rica you will receive a complete agenda of activities
for your time in the Immersion Alive program. Although
you are living real-life experiences, the activities are planned and
a schedule is maintained to assure you get the greatest value for your
time and financial investment.
Present Spanish Skills Requirement
This is a real-life learning and refinement program that requires a
minimum High Intermediate or higher level Spanish skill set to be successful.
Only learners who have passed the Bilingual America Spanish Power Intermediate
Exam with a score of 90 or more can enjoy this incredible life-changing
Spanish learning opportunity.
A person passing the Advanced or Expert Levels with a score of 85 or
more is also eligible for the Immersion Alive! program.
Learners who have not taken the Spanish Power training
program who wish to become eligible for the Immersion Alive!
program are invited to take one of the aforementioned exams. Upon successful

with other native English speakers and sit in a classroom, in the Immersion

with people who are native Spanish speakers. Your entire stay will be
in a complete Spanish speaking environment.
