One-on-One Tutoring is the perfect complement to the Spanish Power™
Courseware! Spanish Power™ is the only Courseware on
the market today that offers the optional benefit of an integrated Live Tutoring
Program.
The Tutoring Process is designed to allow you to apply what you learn
in the Spanish Power™ courseware in a dynamic and interactive
process. In the courseware, you develop your complete language infrastructure,
in tutoring, you develop confidence using what you are learning in a live environment.
Many people find great benefit in a tutoring program as it allows for consitent interactivity with a trained instructor and provides accountability in the learning process.
Bilingual America's instructional process is highly innovative, pragmatic
and structured. All One-on-One Tutoring is given by telephone. This offers
not only the best learning result, but also great logistical flexibility
for the learner.
Results in tutoring are much better by telephone than in a face to face
environment. Upon hearing this the first time, many students have questions
about the process. How does it work? Why is it better?
All one-on-one instruction is administered by a trained and Certified
Bilingual America instructor and is designed to meet the specific needs
of each individual student.
Here are a few of the many benefits of interacting in the tutoring program
by telephone:
- You
become fully accustomed to voice, rather than non-verbal gestures. If
you learn face to face, 30 percent of what you think you hear is non-verbal.
Most people trained in this way freeze up when confronted by a telephone
call in Spanish. They just are not used to the real language!
- You
have logistical freedom. You can receive tutoring early in the morning
or late in the evening and anytime in between. This is because Bilingual
America instructors have professional offices in their homes and teach
extended hours.
- You
can stay consistent even when you travel. One of the most important
elements to an effective, results-driven program is consistency. Telephone
tutoring allows you to call from anywhere as long as you can get to
a phone!

Bilingual America instructors are available by appointment from 8:00 a.m.
to 10:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
EST on Saturdays. Saturday sessions are in high demand and are offered based only on instructor availability. Students schedule either session by session or week
to week. Instruction by telephone is given in 30 minute increments of
time.
Many students ask, "What is the right amount of tutoring in relationship
to the Courseware?" This varies from student to student but we have
found that a serious tutoring program involves two half-hour sessions
for each one lesson in the Courseware. We call this our Platinum Level Program. Most students with serious business objectives take this program.
For example, each Level of Courseware contains 12 Interactive Lessons
that each take four to five hours to complete. In relation to each lesson,
a very strong tutoring program would mean taking two half-hour sessions
per lesson — one session at the mid-point of a lesson and one at
the end of the lesson. This is a premium program!
Of course, you can choose to do less or no tutoring. Perhaps you have a friend
who speaks Spanish who is willing to help you and follow some instructions from us. Perhaps you are an outstanding
independent learner and need very little outside practice or guidance.
Perhaps you would like to try a few tutoring sessions first just to get a feel for how much
you think you need or want. Perhaps you simply need the best learning process possible with the Courseware but do not have the budget for a tutoring program. The Courseware alone is still a much better learning program than other options on the market.
These are all legitimate reasons to consider less tutoring or an a
la carte approach to the process. This being said, we have consistently
seen over the years that students who take two half-hour tutoring sessions
per lesson achieve outstanding results in the program.
